frame for performance piece 2003finding time to emotionalize, to care. finding that moment when we realize we are mortal; actually being able to look at ourselves and realize we are fragile, weak, aging… when do these realizations get in the way and when do they foster growth, change and progressiveness in ourselves? if we view these things as negative we will sit and waste, waiting for death to come. if we view them as positive, we may have the chance to race the clock and accomplish things for ourselves and the greater good. time is the judge, but we are in control.

falling toward some ground we absorb energy while time records itself on our faces; our bodies.
linear paths lay themselves out as we walk [un]wanted. astray? “success” brings happiness.
lost in the void, undeclared war. ease found only in the attempts to forget; even worse, ignore.

The images to the sketch book are intriguing and give insight to your work.
The questions you pose… do you really think people are asking themselves these questions? Is it not the artists role, on the fringe of society, to answer those questions for the populous? Can we not find our ways without looking and just being what we are?

i would hope that people are asking these questions — but i am sure many are not. it is not the artist’s role to live the fringe life for others. it is the artist’s role to help guide the way for change — progression. we can only pose the questions. others must take the opportunity to live.
