new studio & work
in october 2008 john ros officially opened his new studio in the brooklyn navy yards. the move started in september after working eighteen months in hastings-on-hudson of westchester county.
the latest work in the studio has taken shape as primarily mixed media, drawing and installation, representing a continuation of the dichotomy between organic forms and architectural, human-made structures. as always the use of line with shape informs on foundation — breaking ground between infrastructure and facade. light and space inform minimalism and density; working simultaneously, if not formally, making sense of process. uncovered ideas of balance and continuity remark on evolution and progression.

recent exhibitions - 2008
unmonumental - john’s first solo exhibition since 2006 at the vermont studio center in february 2008. the show featured the newest works from new york city, an installation of charcoal drawings, collage and found sculptural collage.
amnesties iii - a multimedia collection of contemporary works, this group exhibition featured the new installation cell [no. 01], a mixed media installation by john at spool mfg, johnson city, new york.
suny binghamton alumni show - john’s third consecutive participation at the university art museum’s alumni exhibition, autumn 2008. featured are a series of collages from from a local private collection.
off the wall - a selected group exhibition at the prince street gallery in november 2008 for the fundraising benefit of the cooperative gallery in chelsea, new york.
