artists during war @ pocket, binghamton, new york
in an event of disaster and war, humanity is at the definitive peak. the elite, as a progressive, culturally, economically and academically rich society, has created a state of infinite complacency. our only option is to toy with ideas, debate philosophies, or prove worthiness for the sake of our own egos. a debate on theory can exist between those that favor or oppose, believers or disbelievers, political allies vs. political enemies and can be applied in policy or even action, but when people are inflicted with both emotional and physical pain, human rational is replaced by humans’ need for survival.
artists during was is an artistic attempt to create a period of time where war forces people to act in ways that they would otherwise take for granted. death, untimely or “appropriate”, makes one think of their own fate. was greatly amplifies those feelings of anxiety and dread that all humans possess. this wartime hysteria mimics the dysfunction of the human experience; events happen all the time, but we can only be a part of that which is present in our own condition. artists during war is a series of specific events that inflict a chaos of ideas that are experienced through an indirect interpretation of war as seen through the eyes of the artist.
