guest sqw:lab director, john ros, once said at a diner in new york, “let’s get pancakes for the table”. this idea of sharing the sweet treat amongst the diners is exactly what this exhibition does.
the core of our exploration lies in our play projects — directives that initiated our creative dialogue. each work is a playful response and is meant to be seen as the sweet treat, served amongst friends, and as an extension, challenge and exploration of their own practice. some works are complete, others are works in progress and some are glimpses of the contributors’ studio practice.
the play projects:
-ism/-ist kitchen by katsushi goto
practice – and… by john ros
a lovely villa by vishwa shroff
curate the archive by charlie levine
from doodles to intricate creations, our process is laid bare for you to witness. it’s a documentation of the evolution of ideas, the interplay of diverse perspectives and the exploration of our artistic practices.
directors have invited six creative practitioners to join in the exchange and play. sqw:lab is pleased to host tom barton, jessica del vecchio,, avijit mukul kishore, renée o’drobinak, hannes schüpbach, rohan shivkumar, plus guest veeranganakumari solanki
pancakes for the table is a testament to the power of collaboration — an exhibition that encapsulates the spirit of experimentation, the thrill of shared creation and the depth of artistic exchange.

book + exhibition
embracing the essence of flip books and the artistic spirit of dadaism’s exquisite corpse, i loved engaging with real people, focuses on granting ownership to the viewer. this intimate, handheld exhibition defies tradition, devoid of a fixed beginning or end. instead, it thrives on collaboration, starting with the artist-curator dynamic. each visitor is invited to become an artist-curator, creating their own myriad interpretations and possibilities.
